Extreme Makeover Home Edition is my favorite show! Every Sunday night I watch Ty Pennington and his designers build and decorate a beautiful home for a well deserving family. I get so excited when the owners walk into their new home for the first time.
This is one of the many reasons I decided to go into the home staging business. I will never forget the first home I helped stage. The owner was so excited when she walked in and saw how we had transformed her home into a beautiful, uncluttered and inviting place to live. Tears came to her eyes, and she thanked us repeatedly. She had been so overwhelmed at the prospect of getting her home ready to put on the market to sell; she just could not see how she could get it done. I immediately knew how Ty and his designers must feel on their show!
I am a former licensed Real Estate Agent with Jane Wyatt Realty and also worked with Ledbetter Brothers Developers during the construction of a shopping center in Rome, Georgia. I have also served on the Advisory Committee to the Marketing Department at Coosa Valley Tech, Rome, Georgia. Because of my degree in Marketing Management, I understand that marketing your home to potential buyers is no different from any other product. You have to know your target market. Is your home marketable to small families, newlyweds, empty nesters or retirees? One of my favorite jobs was selling home décor accessories and gifts to stores all around Georgia. This taught me a lot about how the right accessory can make a huge statement. Everyone has always told me I had a “knack” for decorating, and it has always been something I have enjoyed. Add to that the idea of helping someone sell their home faster and at a higher price, makes this a perfect career!
